What
can I do about my high electrical bills?
Many things can be done by an electrical
contractor to make your system function
in the most efficient manner.
Your
electrical system should be reviewed
with the advent of any higher than
normal bill. This can help
determine if the problem is one of
something malfunctioning or if energy conservation
measures are called
for. Seasonal (Summer) increases are due
more to increased reliance on A/C in
this area. Even that can be mitigated.

How about light bulbs
why is it important not to over-load a
fixture by using a larger wattage lamp?
All fixtures have
sticker that indicates the highest
rating wattage that they can safely
handle. This should be checked against
what wattage lamp you currently have
installed to make sure it is in
agreement. If you need more light
I recommend changing a incandescent
fixture to a compact fluorescent
version where the wattage will go down
with increased lighting luminance, as an
added bonus you'll be lowering the
amount of heat you inject into your home.
Your fixture trim should be examined
also to make sure that it adds to the
efficiency of your light. Call me to set
up an assessment of your lighting needs. |

How often
should my electrical system be checked to help avoid problems?
Certainly if you
suspect any malfunctioning, contact a
qualified electrical contractor
immediately. Otherwise your electrical
system should be checked periodically by
that electrical contractor to maintain
it's proper functioning. Circuit
breakers should also be checked to
determine that they are functioning as
designed by the manufacturers. The Kitchen
is where a lot
of power is consumed, with the counter top
being one
of the most important area's of the
home. Checking out the operation of all
above counter GFI'S is one thing that
should be done as directed by the
manufacturer. Another item to
check is any receptacles located
under the sink. Call to have those
inspected on a regular basis. |
